It is happening more and more at community colleges with Honors Programs….”the best and the brightest” go to community college for two years and $8,000.00….then transfer to four year colleges, The Washington Post reports.
The community colleges in the article are, of course, in the DC area. I did a little checking, and Collin County Community College District does have an Honors Program. Honor students from CCCC (or Quad C) usually matriculate to:
Austin College
Baylor University
Dallas Baptist University
Southern Methodist University
Texas A&M University
Texas A&M Commerce
Texas Tech University
Texas Woman’s University
University of Texas at Dallas
University of North Texas
If finances are a particular issue, it may be wise to take a look at the Honors Program and plan to transfer. An Honors program is well situated to keep students on that track.
Hi Tammy,
Thanks for alerting us all to this interesting article. It is great that Community Colleges, which offer an affordable higher education option during a tough economy, also offer Honors Programs for high-achieving students!
Best, Kris
