Long (hopefully awaited) update!

So, I’ve been very bad about blogging this year, but part of it is that things have been going a lot better socially. I actually decided to rush a sorority this year and rush is going really well! At Trinity, the sororities are all local so, they don’t have any of those crazy rules that some of the national ones do and the rush process is 4 months long so, you are really able to feel that you belong to a certain one instead of just going on a whim after a week. It’s been SO much fun and I’ve gotten to meet a lot of people that I wouldn’t normally meet inside my music department bubble. Bid day is in February so, I’ll update about all of that then!

I’ve also been going home a lot this semester for my brother’s football games. He’s a senior at Pearce this year and plays defense for the varsity team. I wasn’t able to go to any of his games last year since I didn’t have a car first semester so, I really wanted to go to as many games as I could this year. I know that while he may not openly show that he appreciates it now, he will show me one day :)

As far as the academic part goes, this semester has been pretty stressful. The work load in music theory and aural skills has gotten pretty hefty pretty quickly. I have a test in each of those classes this week so, I’m hoping that all of the hard work that I’ve put into them will show. My first two semesters of music theory, I didn’t have to put in a whole bunch of work for the written theory part since I took AP music theory in high school and I’m starting to take that I took that relaxation for granted. I would kind of fly through the homework without really thinking about it, but I’m concentrating more and my grades have been showing it :)

As for common curriculum classes, I’m taking physics for my science lab credit and then an intro philosophy for a different common curriculum credit. The physics has been pretty straightforward and I haven’t really had any problems with it. The philosophy has been all right. It’s just really dense. There’s a lot of information to take in at once and then you have to try to reiterate it back to your teacher. But out of all the classes that I needed to fill this credit…it seemed like the most interesting. And it is interesting, just dense.

I’m still a part of the music fraternity (Mu Phi Epsilon) and we hosted Trinity Idol last month and it was a success! A lot of people came out and the participants seemed to have a great time.

Also, awesome news is that I’m OFFICALLY declared as and Music Education major with Instrumental emphasis! Woohoo!!

That’s all I have for now. Have a great day :)
