The Kramer School of Nursing is impressive! It is a nationally known nursing school, and students are accepted straight into the school instead of first into the university, then a different application process for nursing. There are so many degrees, bachelors, masters and doctorates! If you are interested in nursing, I certainly recommend taking a look at Kramer! Oklahoma City U is also known for it’s excellent arts program, both performing and visual. There is the the Ann Lacy School of Dance and Arts Management, the School of Theater (which includes acting, design, etc), and the Wanda L Bass School of Music. The Performing Arts Center is awesome! There is also a School for the Moving Image Arts and Visual Arts. So, if you are interested in the arts, OCU has a lot to offer! There is a Business School, a school of theology in the Methodist tradition (OCU is affiliated with the United Methodist Church) and of course, Liberal Arts and Sciences. OCU also boasts winning sports teams! The OCU STARS have won 46 national championships, including the 2008 NAIA Division I men’s basketball championship! The Jim Wade Stadium for baseball is a sight to be seen, as is OCU’s fitness center. Another interesting factoid, OCU has been dubbed “Miss America U” because of its tradition of winning pageants. There have been 24 Miss Oklahoma’s from OCU, and 3 Miss Americas. There is a statue of them on campus.
It was a very cold day when I visited, and I went into the student center to warm up. It was full of students, eating, playing pool, drinking coffee, and talking. The student center had a very friendly vibe, and so did the admission office! Everyone I met was friendly and happy to be at OCU. If you decide to take a look at Oklahoma City University, be sure to tell them Tam sent you! And check out the rest of the photos on my College Adventures Facebook page!
