Welcome to my blog! In addition to blogs regarding college prep and the college application process this site will feature blogs from first year college students. Their blogs will focus on their experiences at their respective colleges. We will hear about dorm life, academics, social activities, and much, much more! I am particularly excited to have these student bloggers contribute insight regarding the college experience as I believe it will contribute tremendously to our knowledge and discourse. Many of the student bloggers were (and always will be!) my students, or clients. I wish them all the best, and thank them for sharing their experiences on my College Adventures Blog!

Our first student blogger is Wes, a High School Slacker. A brilliant young man who has also struggled with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Wes has been a consistent underachiever throughout his academic career. This blogger is also a musician who has chosen to pursue an alternative educational perspective. He will attend a medium sized university in Southern California. I look forward to hearing about his college adventures throughout the year!
We will also feature Edward’s College Adventures. Edward is a gay young man who “came out” during his junior year in high school. His college search process included looking for gay friendly campuses as well as colleges with Jewish populations and colleges with academic success programs. Edward has chosen a small liberal arts college in Florida. His blog will give us insight on how he navigates the college environment academically as well as socially.
Coop’s College Adventures will follow the adventures of Cooper, a very talented and bright young man who has yet to reach his potential academically. Coop attended a private school in Dallas and received assistance for learning differences. His creativity is off the chart, and it will be fascinating to follow Coop on his adventure in NY.
A Texas Girl’s College Adventures features Colleen, a theater major starting at the University of Texas in Austin. An academic high achiever, Colleen was in the top ten percent of her high school class. Colleen will blog about her college adventures through “Rush” and life at a large university setting.
College Adventures in West Texas! Carly R is a first year student at Texas Tech University, Class of 2013! She is an undecided major and LOVES school spirit! Tech is certainly full of school spirit, go Raiders!
College Adventures of a Music Education Major features Carly C, a high achiever, top ten percent of her high school class, and a musician who wants to teach. She chose a small university in Texas where she is a legacy. I look forward to hearing about college!
A Budding Journalist’s College Adventures features Tracy, a first year journalism major. This blogger is also an accomplished actress, singer and director. I look forward to hearing about her myriad adventures at one of the best journalism universities in the country, and I expect we shall all be thrilled to watch as she becomes the next Katie Couric! Tracy passed away suddenly on October 19, 2009, the day before her 19th birthday. Please click on her category to read her wonderful blogs. I will keep Tracy in my thoughts, and in my heart, always.
College Adventures of a Team Dancer will follow the journey of Haley. Haley was a high school achiever, drill team member, President of her class, President of the school community service organization. I’m sure we’ll continue to see her get involved in her new university community!
College Adventures of a Baylor Bear. Miss Madeline chose Baylor, and feels right at home with the Bears! She started as a business major, but has already discovered that business is not her forte. Education has become her goal. It will be fun to follow her college adventures in Waco!
A Ranger’s College Adventures will follow the college adventures of Michael, a young man interested in a career in national intelligence. His plan is to transfer to a university in Washington DC after a year or two in Texas.
College Adventures of a Texas Frat Boy. Trevor will be blogging about his second year experiences at a large Texas university. He is a Communications/Film major and in a large fraternity on campus. Hopefully we’ll hear all about his college adventures!
An Aspiring Veterinarian turned Psychologist’s College Adventures. Jenny has always wanted to become a vet, and she has decided to pursue that dream at Hendrix College in Conway, AR. She decided that the small, more personal environment at a liberal arts school would be the best way for her to achieve her goal. I look forward to hearing about life in Conway!
Another student blogger is Matille, A Texas Girl goes North, a vocalist at a small liberal arts college outside of Chicago. Born in Peru of Inca Indian descent and adopted by a wonderful family in Dallas, Matille is a tremendously hard worker with an iron character. She was born missing one of her hands, but that has never slowed her down for a moment. Matille is going into her second year and lives in the International Dorm at her college. Her adventures will include multiculturalism as well as music in college!
Nick’s College Adventures in Florida will follow the adventures of Nick, a second year college student at a medium sized university in Florida. He is a Communications Major, and has really found his “fit”! Nick will keep us updated on his sophomore college adventures!
College Adventures of Kentucky Women showcases the college adventures of Brittane, in her 5th year of college at Morehead State University in Kentucky, and her roommate Kara. Brittane had a few changes of major and personal stumbles but is now headed to graduation as a Public Relations/Events major, as is Kara. Adventures in the Blue Grass state!
College Adventures of an Ole Miss Rebel. Melissa is a sophomore at Ole Miss majoring in education. She hopes to earn a doctorate and become an administrator. A huge Rebel fan and a sorority member, we’ll hear about life on the campus of one of the oldest universities in the South! And she is a scuba diver (which endears her to me!). Maybe Ole Miss has a scuba club?
Community College Adventures will follow the adventures of John, an aspiring actor, writer and filmmaker as he navigates the world of the community college. Community colleges are becoming the choice of many students, not only because of the economy, but because students want to test the college waters before jumping in. Also blogging in this category is GEEKYGIRL who attends a community college in Illinois.
College Adventures from the Desert. From the desert town of Victorville came Michael Crismali. Never a fan of education, he ended up at an alternative learning institution in southern California. He’s trying to figure out what makes people tick and how to make them laugh. He writes for his college newspaper, and it will be most entertaining to follow his adventures in SoCal!
An Equestrian’s College Adventures features Jordan, a horse lover who is headed to Rhode Island to major in Equine Business. Jordan’s goal is to ride competitively and wants to eventually run her own riding and boarding facility.
Maddy is our High School Senior blogger! Maddy is a high achiever who is currently involved in her college search process. She is Asian Indian biracial, an Evangelical Christian, and plans to major in Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic, and International Economics. Maddy will blog about high school, the college application process, her college visits, and her perspectives on her experiences.
Emily’s College Adventures: I play the violin and guitar, I sing, I dance, I act, I draw, I sew, I just about do anything creative in the creative arts area. I am a big fan of Star Trek which does not mean I know every name for every little thing in it, it just means I think Mr. Spock is cool, and William Shatner talks, very, strange, and pauses alot, as Captain Kirk. I grew up in the time of Harry Potter books and not in the time of Twilight books…thank God. I go to college, and I think way too much for what seems normal…but what is normal?
