Travels with Tam: Eckerd College

I have to say right off the bat: I LOVE Eckerd! My daughter graduated from Eckerd this past spring, so I had an opportunity to get to know the college quite well. If you want personal attention, a beautiful location with ocean views, an outstanding liberal arts education, and being taught by a nobel laureate, then Eckerd is a place you need to look at!

Travels with Tam: University of Puget Sound

The University of Puget Sound is located in Tacoma, Washington. Yes, somewhat near Forks, home of the Cullens! Actually not, it is much sunnier and close to the water (you know, Puget Sound!). UPS is a small university of 2500, firmly rooted in the liberal arts core curriculum and tradition of critical thinking, but it offers pre-professional majors as well.

Travels with Tam: Boston U!

How can you go to Boston and not visit BU? You can’t! Great location, river views, and a hopping urban campus. There is always something going on at BU! Travels with Tam: Wheaton College in Norton, Mass

Wheaton College was not on my original list of college visits during my trip to Boston in September 2009, but I decided on the way to Boston Logan that as I had a spare hour or two, I would go and see Wheaton College, also founded by Mary Lyons (the founder of Mt Holyoke). Wheaton has been coed since 1987, and has some very interesting features, both academically and physically. Ever heard of the “dimple”, a sculpture made of trees, or Peacock Pond? Believe me, if you have not, you want to.

Yesterday, we went to visit Mt Holyoke in South Hadley, MA, a Seven Sisters institution, and a member of the Five School Consortium (Mt Holyoke, Smith, Amherst, Hampshire, and UMass). Go, MoHo!

Waltham, MA: Home to Bentley and Brandeis

Waltham, MA is some kind of cool! Or “sick”, as the kids say. This suburb of Boston has it all: close to the big city, great community, eclectic Moody Street, and two great, and very different, universities. Not to mention Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts on awesome Moody Street!

College Visit Adventures with Tam!

I LOVE visiting colleges! I love walking the campus, talking with students, visiting classes, and of course, taking the college campus tour! Some tours are more fun than others, of course, and sometimes the success of the visit hinges on how fun the tour guide was, but still….I love college campuses!
