Everyone loves psychology…but do you really know what it is? According to Wikipedia, psychology “is an academic and applied discipline which involves the scientific study of human (or animal) mental functions and behaviors. In this field, a professional practitioner or researcher is called a psychologist, and is classified as a social or behavioral scientist. Most of my students start out having no clear idea of what they want to do with their lives. Often, students seem worried about that, but actually it is completely normal for a 16 or 17 year old to be unsure of what they want out of life. www.payscale.com has published the list of the best (and worst) paid college degrees. This study is based on Bachelor’s Degrees with no graduate school, keep that in mind! Leadership Studies? What is that? A major? Sometimes. A program? Sometimes. Schools that offer Leadership Studies are on to something. What does a complex world need in every field? Leadership, sound, responsible leadership. How is it taught? Through the liberal arts, an education which teaches critical thinking, problem solving, due diligence in research, history, sociology, ethics…and the ins and outs of the leadership/follower relationship. Sound interesting? VERY.
