I had an amazing winter break and definitely wasn’t ready to come back to school (I had my first ever WHITE CHRISTMAS!), but of course, I didn’t have much of a choice
I already feel that this semester is going to be better than my first for a couple of reasons: (1) It doesn’t seem like I have any jerk teachers this semester, (2) I’m taking my first actual Music Ed course (more about that later), (3) I HAVE A CAR!!!!!!!!, and (4) I FREAKING HAVE A CAR!!!!!! My birthday was last week and I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be not having my friends around for my birthday. I guess I took for granted the fact that they were all home before and I could invite them to whatever little birthday shindig that I wanted to. I obviously couldn’t do that this year. But a lot of them called me and one sent me a present and candy
I also got a cookie bouquet from my dad, step-mom, step-sister, and my brother (although I’m not sure how much a part of it Jake was
), some balloons from my boyfriend, and some gifts, cards, and calls from my grandparents. (more…)

My Thanksgiving break was absolutely perfect. I got to see all of my friends, my boyfriend, and of course my family. I helped put up Christmas decorations at my mom’s house too before I left. Something tells me there will still be some for me to put up when I get back on the 16th.

I know that it’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged, but I’ve had a lot going on. Mainly school work because as the title suggests…I don’t really have much of a social life. (more…)
I went home for homecoming last weekend to crown the new queen! And a ton of my friends came home too. Needless to say, the weekend was FANTASTIC!

Nothing really too exciting going on at Trinity right now. Going home two weeks ago helped me realize what I missed about Trinity like my suitemates and the amazing practice rooms and the atmosphere in general. But after again, being here for two weeks…I’m wanting to go home. Things are pretty organized and mundane and back home not EVERYTHING is organized like I feel it is here. Maybe that’s because I haven’t “put myself out there enough.” Whatever that means. Homecoming is this weekend and I can’t wait to crown the next queen! Plus, I miss my friends and family and I have a lot of friends coming home from their schools. I CAN’T WAIT. I’ve been blessed with a great set of friends like them. (more…)
This past weekend, I thought that my mom was going to be able to come and visit me in San Antonio. But she’s a trial lawyer and therefore sometimes doesn’t have a schedule set in stone. She called me on Wednesday and it turned out that she was going to have a ton of work to do and wouldn’t be able to come here. I was really upset, but then she said that she had an idea…that I could hop on a plane and go home for the weekend! With pretty much no hesitation I said that I’d LOVE to. (more…)
As far as music classes go, things have been going pretty well. But due to the fact that I have horrible anxiety, I had a panic attack in front of everyone when I was instructed to sing by myself. Luckily the class has only 6 people including myself, but it was still horribly embarrassing. The professor apologized after class, but I told him that it wasn’t his fault and that I’ve had problems with anxiety since…I don’t even remember when. I also sent him a follow up e-mail to give him a some more details as to what happened that day. I know it caught him off guard and again…I’m super embarrassed that it had to happen. I mean…I’m in college, right? Shouldn’t I be over this? Oh well. It seems to be all about confidence and I definitely don’t have it when it comes to sight singing and aural skills. (more…)
Wow have I had a lot of work to do.
As a music major I’m required to take music theory, aural skills, and keyboard (piano) skills. My teacher is so nice and really wants us to learn and wants to help us succeed. I can’t wait to learn all of this with him as my professor. While most of the theory is review for me right now since I took AP music theory my senior year, I know that once new stuff comes around, he’ll be able to teach that extremely well too. And since he was a trombone player, he understands that us instrumentalists have a little bit of a disadvantage when it comes to aural skills (ear training and sight singing) compared to the vocalists. They’ve basically been doing that since they started choir. (more…)
I’ve had two days of classes. On Thursday I had aural skills (which is listening skills and sight singing), music theory, and writing workshop (a class that is required for one semester of all first years). (more…)
