one of the things that people do up here for fun is completely unorthodox and insane, its called gorge jumping. basically an individual will happily throw themselves off of a Cliff into the Valley below, hopefully the person is diving into water, but even still your safety is not guaranteed. there are several beautiful gorges in the area, and this makes for several places for idiots to jump from. one gorge i visited was filled with such idiots. there are places in the gorge that get the most jump traffic, the heights are; 15, 25,40, 60 and 80 feet, and there are people who jump at all of those heights. i jumped in at 15 feet into water so cold it could make the empire state building shrink, i swam around, and made it back to land. it feels like its been several years since i have blogged last, and a lot has happened since then. i have survived one month of class, a room change, distracting views, a 15 foot fall, and the swine flu. (more…)
this is what i have learned so far:
1) head phones in your ears means that your room mates won’t talk to you.
2) make sure that your head phones are plugged in to something otherwise room mates will ask you why you are wearing dangling headphones.
3) carry tons of one dollar bills. no you are not using them for a strip club, but a vending machine.
4) buy your own toilet paper. the stuff that is in the restrooms is the stuff you also find at a hardware store.
5) shower with your shoes on! why? there have been an incredible amount of nasty feet and bodies that have been cleaned in there.
more to come!!
i am a nineteen year old college student, and i am hungry. hungry for not just knowledge but for food. it is true when people tell you that as soon as you go to college that you become instantly bankrupt. i have spent 500 bucks on books the last 2 days, and about 300 on supplies to make my dorm livable, supplies including things to make me livable to my dorm mates as well(deodorant and such). you should see this place, call me a spoiled brat but i sure would like someone to take care of me right about now. Dallas, Tx on August 20
When I realised that my last few moments in Dallas were slipping through my fingers I thought that I was walking the green mile. I had the apprehensiveness of a deathrow inmate. I felt like I was on a short plank leading in to shark infested waters. (more…)
