Well, after a year and a half of planning and talking and thinking, semester at sea is finally here. And let me tell you, it was so rough getting here. So, right now it is about midnight, it is my first night on the ship. I have met my room mate. Her name is Lauren and so far we are getting along really well. It is nice to have something go right after everything going wrong trying to get here. Let me start from the beginning

There are things in life that your parents simply cannot prepare you for and I believe it is when you start to encounter these things that you realize you’ve woken up to discover you’ve left the world of adolescents. For instance, I started having to do my taxes last year, but really I faxed everything to mom and mom did it for me. This year, now that I’m the big 2-0, it’s all me. Full Story »
Roomies
I’m getting to know my roommates a lot better and I really couldn’t be happier with them. Though they have some weird habits like one going to bed by 10:30 every night and wanting to turn the light off right then and the other not going to bed until at least 2, overall, we get along so great and I feel like we mesh really well with our habits.

A little more than a week before leaving Australia, I got hit with a water balloon by mistake. I was not the intended target, nor was I participating in this battle of water filled rubber projectiles. Just an innocent bystander who took a water balloon to the eye

That hit me this semester. Hard. I find myself lacking motivation to really study hard for most tests and things. My english teacher said it pretty perfectly this year, “most people do most things most of the time on autopilot.”

This semester has been extremely unordinary for one main reason, my friends. The class of 2010 graduated, and it’s not the same without them! I met some wonderful friends from that graduate class, like Jaime, Justin, TJ, and many more. I had some of my close friends go abroad, like Miguel and Mia. I had friends transfer like Kuan, a great friend of mine, and one of my best friends, Melanie! My best friend/roommate from the past two years, Laura, is currently studying abroad in Bolivia. I didn’t realize how much I would miss her. I feel so incomplete without her. I think about her all the time. I know she’s having an incredible time, but I can’t wait until second semester because then she’ll be back!
