In case you didn’t know, I go to a hippy school in southern California. Naturally, this draws a large number of hippy sorts of kids. I write jokes in my free time and here’s one I told at open mic: “Hippies aren’t called that because they’re hip or hipsters. It’s because they’re hypocrites. They’re always saying give peace a chance but I find they aren’t receptive when I give them a piece of my mind (pause for laughter).” I know it’s a pun but it got an okay laugh. (more…)

I LOVE visiting college campuses, and my spring will be full of them! As a Professional Member of the IECA I have to meet strict standards for the number of colleges visited per year, but it is never a problem for me since I love doing it. Anywhere I travel I always pop by a few campuses! I particularly enjoy visiting and chatting with the students. It is truly the best way to see a campus. I will be visiting New Orleans in two weeks so I will be visiting Tulane and Loyola, and may try to squeeze in a couple of others….and I have just decided to go visit my son in Southern California where he is a first year Johnston student at the University of Redlands. So I plan to take a look at Occidental, Pepperdine, and Chapman…. then I’m off to Boston in mid-April where I have Curry College and Dean College to visit, and I think perhaps Babson and Boston College….then, Chicago! I am already on the schedule for Northwestern, DePaul, Lake Forest and U of Chicago. It will be fun, and I will be blogging and posting photos, so stay tuned!

What a FANTASTIC day, especially for a Monday. I got up, dog-tired, went to class and was done by 11. The teacher in my first class woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, but what can you do. By the time class was done, the sun was shining, it was a beautiful 72 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. I spent the entire day outside!! It was amazing. This is the first warm beautiful day in Oxford, Mississippi in what seems to be forever! (more…)

Fairhill’s primary purpose is to provide a superior education for students of average and above intelligence who have been diagnosed with a learning difference such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Auditory Processing Disorder, or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.” (more…)

Everyone loves psychology…but do you really know what it is? I know that movie is old news, but I was raiding wikipedia like I often do and I came across this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Themes_in_Avatar
It’s pretty long as far as wikipedia articles go. I saw Avatar in imax 3-D and it was cool. I mean it was long… and it was Pocahontas… but a lot of things exploded and got eaten by those dragon things and got shot, that was entertaining. (more…)
